What to do if I think it's a good idea but my child doesn't want to participate? Those programs do require a willingness to participate comind from the child in order to see improvements in their mental health. However, if your child do show some signs of resistance, a good first step is always to communicate with them. It can be relevant to ask them why they do not what to go or what they are afraid of. You can try reassuring them about how everyone in the room is going to be as scared as them and there is really no shame in going there.
